Islamic studies following the traditional islaamic educational path.
How many times have we started to study the Quraan or tajweed and never finished? How many times did we have to start all over again with a new teacher?… The answer is usually, “Too many times”.
AlHamdu Lillaah; if now is the time for you to finally memorize the Quraan. Or now is the time for you to complete your studies in tajweed, then this course is for you.
We take you by the hand, and we will not let you down. A person will have to pull away himself, in order to fail this course. Why? Because this is one of Timbuktu’s signature courses. For the past 15 years we have been taking complete beginners in Tajweed and transforming them, by the permission of Allaah, into Tajweed Specialists.
We start off by engrossing ourselves in “The Aadaab of the Qaari”. This is a manual written by Imaam An-Nawawi [RaHimahullaah]. It teaches the student that this is not only a skill, but a lifestyle.
By studying, “The Legacy of KhaaQaani” The student is then connected to the very first Scholar of Tajweed. At this point the student is ready for “Jamzoori”. Jamzoori only covers two topics:
Afterwards the student will study “al-MuQaddimah of ibn Jazari”. There, he will focus on mastering the Makhaarijal – Huroof and their Sifaat. He will also familiarize himself with all the other aspects of tajweed, and start living in his MuS-Haf. Then during the last phase, while studying, “Tajweed Illustrated by Sh. Ayman Suwayd”, he will cover all the rules again, just to make sure that he has mastered them all.
It must be mentioned that the student’s jaw will tested regularly. This is due to the most important Tajweed Rule which states:
“The difference between the one who masters tajweed and the one who does not,
depends solely upon whether that person exercised his jaw or not”
